Honoring Breast Cancer Awareness Month: A Tribute to Family and the Fight for a Cure

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness, support survivors, and celebrate those we have loved and lost. At MarketScale, we’re inspired by our partners like GE Healthcare that are on the frontline of breast cancer detection and diagnostics, developing technology that supports early detection—a critical factor in saving lives. This year, one of our own team members brought this mission close to home by participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure 5K, alongside her mom and her dog, Mona.

For graphic designer, and social media and brand development expert, Michela Fulco, the 5K was more than an event; it was a chance to honor her late grandmother, Marie, who passed away from breast cancer in 2007.

“Back in 2007, we lost my Grandma Marie to breast cancer, and that was a pain I will never forget. Every year since then, I have found a way to memorialize her in the month of October. This year, the Susan G. Komen 5K happened to be on my mom’s birthday! What better way to celebrate two of my favorite women in my life? While bringing my other favorite little girl along with me for the ride!”

This personal connection to the cause shows the importance of events like these that bring families, communities, and companies together in support. For our MarketScale team, it’s a reminder of why we amplify the stories of healthcare innovators like GE Healthcare, who make a real difference in early cancer detection and treatment.

"Ending breast cancer needs all of us," as the event's t-shirts emphasized. It was moving to see so many come together, walking in support of loved ones, survivors, and those we’ve lost. The unity at the 5K mirrors the collective action needed to fight this disease, and Michela's story embodies the resilience and determination shared by millions around the world.

The Role of Industry Innovation: A Look at GE Healthcare’s Impact

Breast cancer impacts 1 in 8 women in the U.S., and early detection remains one of the most effective ways to improve survival rates. GE Healthcare’s innovations in mammography, digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT), and ultrasound imaging help clinicians detect abnormalities earlier and with greater accuracy. This technology gives doctors and patients the clarity needed to make life-changing decisions, empowering early intervention and hope.

Their work is a beacon of progress in the medical field, providing healthcare workers with the tools they need to diagnose and treat breast cancer with precision and care.

Honoring Survivors, Supporting Care, and Raising Awareness

Healthcare professionals—from radiologists and oncologists to support staff—work tirelessly to support patients and families affected by breast cancer. Through their expertise, compassion, and dedication, they bring relief and hope to millions. At MarketScale, we are proud to honor these efforts and share the stories of those making a tangible difference in the fight against breast cancer.

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we stand in solidarity with families like Michela's, who remember and honor loved ones and celebrate the resilience of survivors. Whether you’re joining a walk, sharing educational resources, or supporting a friend or family member, every action brings us closer to ending breast cancer.
